What We Believe at Central Baptist

The Scriptures

We believe the Bible to be the divinely inspired record of God’s revelation of Himself to man. It was written by men divinely inspired by God’s Holy Spirit. It has God as its author, God’s glory as its end, and infallible truth for its matter. It is eternal just as its author is eternal. It is the center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. The criterion by which the Bible is to be interpreted is Jesus Christ.
Deut. 4:1-2, 6:1-9; Psalm 119; Isaiah 40:8; Luke 4:1-13; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; Hebrews 1:1-3; 2 Peter 1:20-21

God

There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being. He is the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. He is infinite in His holiness and all His other perfections. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal God is a triune God. He reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is distinct in personal attributes but is of the same nature, essence, and being.

Salvation

Salvation includes the redemption of the whole man. It is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who, by His own blood, obtained and secured eternal redemption for the believer. In its broadest sense, salvation includes regeneration, sanctification, and glorification.

The Church

A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is a local body of baptized believers who are associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel, observing the two ordinances of Christ, committed to His teachings, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth.
